I MADE MY CLOTHES! SEWING COURSES IN KRAINA!

In a world of fast fashion and mass production, making your own clothes is not only a creative hobby, but also a conscious, eco-friendly choice. “I MADE MY CLOTHES” sewing courses at Kraina combine hands-on sewing skills with the idea of upcycling — we work with second-hand materials, giving them a new life as beautiful and functional items.

In January 2026, we are launching two courses:

Location

The courses take place at the Kraina Foundation headquarters in Warsaw (Mokotów district),
Puławska Street 67, unit 43.
We offer a friendly and inspiring learning environment with professional equipment and full facilities.

Registration

To enroll, please complete the registration form.
Your place in the course is confirmed upon payment of a deposit to the Kraina Foundation’s bank account.

Course Instructors

Yana Bezdushna and Natalia Dosko — fashion designers and seamstresses with extensive industry experience, participants of the prestigious Sustainable Fashion Design program.

PROFESSIONAL SEWING COURSE FOR BEGINNERS – 48 HOURS

Who is this course for?

  • For beginners who want to learn how to sew from scratch

  • For people who dream of creating their own wardrobe

  • For DIY and handmade enthusiasts

  • For anyone looking to develop a creative hobby

  • For those who value individual style and high-quality craftsmanship

Course concept and goals

This sewing course is designed for adults who want to learn how to sew and gain practical skills needed to create a wide range of textile projects. Classes are held in a small group of up to 6 participants, ensuring an individual approach and close attention to each participant’s progress.

Over 48 hours of classes, participants will become familiar with professional sewing machines, learn various sewing techniques, work with different types of fabrics, and create five complete projects:

  • Upcycled blazer

  • Bag

  • Skirt

  • Trousers

  • Shirt

The course is flexible — instructors adjust the level and pace to the actual skills of the group.
The course is conducted in Polish, English, and Ukrainian.
Maximum group size: 6 participants.

What will we learn?

1. Sewing machine basics

  • Operating a sewing machine (settings, stitch types)

  • Cutting fabric according to patterns

  • Basics of hand sewing

2. Finishing techniques

  • Different types of seams (straight, French, overlock)

  • Hemming edges, inserting zippers and buttons

  • Edge finishing and detail work

3. Simple home and accessory projects

  • Sewing a simple bag (pattern of choice)

  • Basic garment alterations

4. Garment construction step by step

  • Creating a skirt (working with simple patterns)

  • Shirt construction with key details (collar, placket, cuffs)

  • Sewing elastic-waist trousers

5. Mastering key tailoring techniques

While working on each project, participants will focus on learning and refining essential skills such as:

  • Inserting zippers

  • Setting in sleeves

  • Finishing necklines

  • Working with stretch fabrics

Final outcome After completing the course, participants will:

  • Be able to confidently operate a sewing machine and complete basic projects

  • Master a variety of sewing and finishing techniques

  • Create five finished garments/accessories

  • Gain confidence working with patterns and different fabrics, enabling them to continue sewing independently

Price

The course fee is PLN 3,500 gross and includes all learning materials, such as fabrics and knits, threads, machine needles, tools, and all consumable materials.

JEANS COAT 12 h

In this course you will create: a straight cut denim jacket with a collar and pockets. You will sew it from pieces of fabric taken from denim trousers. If you have unused jeans in your wardrobe, you can also bring them and use them.

Materials: You will work with second-hand denim material. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.

For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.

Date: The course consists of 4 meetings: Wednesday 16.04., Wednesday 23.04., Wednesday 30.04., Wednesday 07.05. Hours 17.00-20.00.

BLUSE AND PANTIES 9 H

In this course you will create a set: a blouse with a v-neck, tied with ties, and trousers in a loose, straight cut, with an elastic waistband.

Materials: You will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.

For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.

Date: The course consists of 3 meetings: Tuesday 15.04., Tuesday 22.04., Tuesday 29.04. Hours 17.00-20.00

ONE-DAY COURSE: SHOPPER BAG & COSMETIC POUCH

In this one-day course, you will create a practical set: a functional shopper bag and a cosmetic pouch. The cosmetic pouch will feature a zipper closure and an inner lining, while the bag will be designed as a trendy shopper tote with a flat bottom and a practical outer pocket.

Materials

You will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics.
All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.

LACE SHOPPER BAG 7 H

In this course you will create a unique and eco-friendly lace / curtain bag. The bag will take the form of a fashionable and lightweight shopper - perfect for shopping or as a stylish everyday accessory.

Materials: you will work with second-hand curtains, giving them new life. All materials are provided by the Kraina Foundation.

For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.

JEANS UPCYCLING 7 H

In this course you will create something on your own from old jeans. We have prepared three suggestions for you to choose from: a handbag, a large bag - shopper or a bucket hat.

Materials: You will be working with second-hand denim fabric. In particular, we encourage you to bring your own unused jeans. However, if you can't find them in your wardrobe, don't worry, you will also find all the materials at the Kraina Foundation.

If you bring your old jeans - don't forget to wash them before the course.

Who for: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their sewing adventure.

Date: Saturday 26.04. 10:00-17:00 (including a half-hour break - you are encouraged to bring your lunch).

DECORATIONS FOR CHILDREN'S ROOM 7 H

In this course you will create a practical decorative set for a child's or teenager's room. You will sew a colourful textile garland to liven up the interior and a decorative cushion cover with a unique pattern and texture that will become a real decoration for the bed or sofa.

Materials: you will work with a variety of second-hand fabrics, giving them a new life. All materials are provided by the Land Foundation.

For whom: The course is aimed at beginners who want to start their adventure in sewing and interior decoration.
